Standing Indian Shelter

Day 8, Thursday, 3/24 – Fortunately no rain, so my gear is actually starting to dry out. It was a tough hike today. The extra food weight was starting to hurt my shoulders. My feet were also starting to hurt. Todays hike felt like a trudge more than any of the other hikes. It’ll get better as I eat my food weight.

I hiked alone for most of the day. I was in my head a for a bit. I have a tendency to be overly self critical, especially with a lot of free time. So I started listening to an audio book, Anna Karenina.

I hiked out of Georgia, into North Carolina, and made it to Standing Indian Shelter. I hiked about 12 miles today, making it to mile 86. I’m camping with Steven and Solitaire. I also met Cory and Colton, who my parents gave a ride a few days ago.a

I intend on blogging everyday, but I won’t always be able to upload due to lack of service. So if you don’t hear from me, don’t worry!
