Spring Mountain Shelter

Day 28, Wednesday, 4/13 – Sprite and I ate breakfast at the lodge and then I settled up the tab with Reboot and Gabe. Here’s a photo of the lodge as well as Reboot and Gabe!

I hiked out of Hot Springs with Sprite and Birthday Sandwich this morning. I’m having some issues with my left heel, so I was taking it real slow today. They ended up hiking ahead of me. There were some neat views of Hot Springs as I continued to hike.

There have also been more signs of Spring. There are more and more wild flowers, and trees are beginning to bud. Another sign is the bugs, they seem to have popped up over night.

I hiked 11 miles to Spring Mountain Shelter at mile 286. I’m tent camping because the next 100 miles or so is a notoriously bad area for Norovirus. From what I’ve been told, the symptoms are similar to food poisoning, but worse. Hikers catch it more frequently in the shelters, so I’m going to avoid the shelters for a little while.
