Beauty Spot Gap

Day 33, Monday, 4/18 – It was still raining when I woke up in the cabin this morning. I looked outside at all the tent campers, it looked like a good amount of rain came down. I was glad to have slept in the cabin. Here’s a photo of myself with Sprite, Ranger Randy, and Mule.

The forecast didn’t look great, so a lot of hikers decided to zero at Uncle Johnny’s. It was a tempting idea, but I wanted to meet up with Genie, Splitzy, and Birthday Sandwich at Station 19E on Thursday, so I hiked out into the rain with Sprite. As we were leaving, Suspenders and Droplet were also getting ready to hike out. Here they are at the front entrance to Uncle Johnny’s.

The hike was better than I thought it would be, it hardly rained. Visibility was pretty low though, it was really foggy all day. I essentially hiked 12 miles in a cloud, ending the day at Beauty Spot Gap, which is at mile 356. It started to rain and got really windy towards the end of the hike. Sprite and I were cold and wet when we decided to set up camp. We found some level ground, and set up tents.

I made dinner in my tent and hunkered down in my sleeping bag by 6:00pm. It’s supposed to be windy throughout the night, and snow is also in the forecast for tonight. I’m currently dry and warm. I hope the tent holds up. I didn’t get the best pitch when setting up my tent, so a corner is pooling water.
