Day 35, Wednesday, 4/20 – I hiked through the Roan Highlands today, it was some beautiful hiking. There were some great views from the tops of the balds.

Interestingly enough, my favorite part of the day was the 2,000 foot climb up to the Roan Highlands. I passed through more Spruce-Fir forest. The Spruce-Fir forest section felt lush, and reminded me of the Smokies. Also, it must have been cold, because there was a lot of ice on trail.
I passed a lot of day hikers today. I can tell the difference between a day hiker and a thru hiker by smell alone. Just the smell of shampoo on a person is surprisingly strong to a thru hiker.
I hiked 16 miles to Overmountain shelter which is at mile 386. I’m camping with Sprite, Hundred Grand, Phil, Apples, and Shade. We all cooked dinner and hung out together for a while, what a fun group.

I have a wonderful tent-site with a great view. Im hoping for a great sunrise.
