Partnership Shelter

Day 46, Sunday, 5/1 – Martin, Mom, and Dad met me at the road near my campsite this morning. It was so great to see them pull up! They brought a trail magic breakfast which included fresh fruit, sausage cheddar biscuits, Gatorade, and homemade cookies. They got to feed and chat with a lot of friends I’ve been hiking with.

Even though thunderstorms were in the forecast for the day and night, Martin packed a backpack and hiked with me. It was a nice hike, and there was no rain all day. There was hardly anyone on trail. I think hikers were trying to avoid the rain that didn’t end up coming.

Martin and I caught up on the hike together. I guess it’s only been a month and a half, so there weren’t any major updates, but it was nice to catch up.

We hiked to Partnership Shelter (mile 534). Mom and Dad met us with pizza at the shelter. They brought five pizzas from a local pizza joint. I have been craving pizza lately, and this hit the spot. Five pizzas ended up being too much for Genie, Splitzy, Birthday Sandwich, Sprite, Mom, Dad, and myself, so we shared the extra with all the other hikers staying at the shelter.

I hit the bottom of my left foot hard on a pointed rock a few days ago. I originally thought I just bruised the bottom of my foot, but I found out that my index toe is numb. I have a bit of anxiety about losing sensation in my toe. It must have been like this for a while.
