Mountain Home B&B Night 3

Day 77, Wednesday, 6/1 – I hitched with Half Time into town this morning. Genie, Splitzy, and Dogfish, met up with us at 10:00am for our pottery class. The pottery class was a ton of fun. It was advertised as a one hour class, but ended up being much longer. Arline, the owner had availability in her schedule, so she let us stay for as long as we wanted. What a great host! We were there for about four and a half hours.

We were handed a block of clay, and were using the pinch pot technique. Dogfish made a rainbow trout, while the rest of us made gnomes. I knew Genie was going to make an impressive piece, but I was surprised by everyone else. There’s a lot of artistic talent in the group! My gnome, however, ended up looking like a Mr. Potato Head.

Arline is going to fire the pieces and then send them to us. I’ll get my gnome sent home, then I’ll bring it to the Appalachian Trail sometime in the future. I’ll find it a nice home somewhere along the trail. For those of you who didn’t see the post a while back, people leave gnomes along the trail for some reason. I don’t know why, but it’s a thing. Here’s that photo I took on day 38 at a waterfall near mile 400.

Birthday Sandwich, Broadway, and I got Indian food for lunch after the pottery class. We got takeout and ate in the park. We then all hitched back to the B&B where we found Dogfish preparing to make pork buns. Broadway, Halftime, and I gave her a hand. I got a small workout in this afternoon to stay loose. Then rest of the evening was was a whole lot of eating. Back to hiking tomorrow!

Here’s a photo of Half Time and Dogfish sitting outside our little cabin!
