Day 89, Monday, 6/13 – I woke up early at the DAG and was pretty hungry. There were a few other hikers sitting at the table drinking some coffee. I quietly cooked up a few scrambled eggs for myself. I almost immediately regret that I hadn’t cooked up a dozen or more eggs. People definitely would have eaten them. It was a missed opportunity to be considerate. Oh well, next time.
We all packed up, and cleaned up the basement. We wanted to leave the place in a better condition than we found it.
I hiked out with Half Time a bit after 9:00am. We had a steep climb out of Duncannon, and the trail was rocky. Rocky enough that every step needed to be placed deliberately. The heat is back too, so I sweat the whole way up the climb. We had only hiked 5 miles by noon, so it was a slow day.

I hiked the rest of the day with Half Time too. The temperature got up to 88 degrees, which is when I start to melt. But the grade for the rest of the hike was relatively flat. Surprisingly, the trail also wasn’t all that rocky, so we were able to pick up the pace. I’m beginning to think people overstate how rocky Pennsylvania is. There certainly are areas with rocks, but I thought it would be much worse than it is based on everything I’ve heard.
We hiked 17 total miles to Clark’s Valley Road Tent-Site (mile 1167). We ran into Zen and Didgeridoo who were going for a swim. We also saw that Sprite and Dogfish had setup camp for the night. Zen, Didgeridoo, Half Time, and I all decided to camp there for the night as well. It was only 5:00pm, so Zen got a fire going.

Birthday, Genie, and Splitzy showed up and set up camp too, but I was too tired to hang.
