Day 116, Sunday, 7/10 – I packed up and hiked out with Aqua at 7:30am. I was happy to have the company. It was good hiking today, and we were moving fast. The weather was nice and the trail was covered with pine needles, which made it easy on the feet.

We were at a vista, talking with some day hikers, when Genie, Splitzy, and Birthday walked by! We all hiked together, and spirits were high. We came across the Trail Stand, which was a little store off trail. We all got ice cream sandwiches and a drink. Jennifer, a section hiker, bought our snacks!

I was 4 miles away from the destination when I felt a fatigue come on. I realized I didn’t eat nearly enough food today. I stopped and ate at least 1,200 calories and I immediately felt better. I hiked on and ran into the group at a Trail Magic cooler on trail. I pulled out a Powerade, and we all kept moving.

I hiked 16 miles to Upper Goose Pond Cabin (Mile 1552). I had my hammock setup by 4:00pm. There’s a pond with good swimming and canoes, but I felt like I needed to rest. I spent an hour in the hammock and wrote yesterday’s blog.
At 5:00pm, I walked down to the pond and sat on the dock with Half Time, Birthday, and Not Dead Yet. I had planned on swimming, but it didn’t happen. I had my feet in the water with my shirt off, ready to jump in, but I was too content just sitting on the dock.

I sat down to eat dinner with Birthday, and a huge crew of hikers joined. I ate dinner then shared Bertie Botts with Stretch, Pounder, Sue, Anthony, Bolt, Not Dead Yet, Waist Deep, Aqua, Birthday, Genie, & Splitzy.
