Day 126, Wednesday, 7/20 – I got an absolutely awful night of sleep last night. It might have been the worst night of sleep on trail yet. The AC was broken in the bunk house, and it was far too hot for me to sleep. I was laying in bed, with my shirt off, in a starfish position, sweating profusely. The hostel had a small patio, so I stepped outside to cool off twice throughout the night. I considered sleeping outside, but there were security lights and I wasn’t sure if that would be frowned upon or not. If I had to guess, I got a total of 3 hours of sleep.
It was 7:30am when they called us down for breakfast. It was a free, communal style breakfast down in the deli. I was feeling antisocial from the lack of sleep, so I just nursed a cup coffee while I ate. I was originally going to stay another night here, but I made the decision last night to get back on trail just so that I could sleep outside in my hammock.
After breakfast, I organized my items and then went to the grocery store with Genie and Birthday. I got 2+ days of food which will be enough to get me into New Hampshire. We went back to the hostel, and repacked food. I then headed over to a coffee shop with Birthday so we could both catch up on blogging/journaling.
After a few hours, we left the coffee shop and wandered around Rutland. We stopped at a bookshop, then at a plant shop. We tried going to a few restaurants, which ended up being closed, then settled on a Japanese restaurant for some sushi. Genie, Splitzy, and Aqua joined us after we finished our meal, but we hung out while they ate.

We then all headed back to the Yellow Deli. I got another piece of cream cheese pie and an egg and cheese sandwich. I still had more blogging to catch up on before getting back on trail. Once I was finally caught up with my writing, I packed my items and started my journey back to trail.
I walked a half mile or so back to the main road, and passed a jazz band in a park. I wish I had more time, because they sounded good. I passed them up, got to the main road, then started hitching. I only had to wait 5 minutes before Zack picked me up. He drove me back to trail and I hiked 1 mile to Tucker Johnson Shelter (Mile 1706).
