Day 133, Wednesday, 7/27 – I woke up at 5:15am, and was hiking by 6:00am. I left camp and immediately started hiking Mount Moosilauke. Besides Killington in Virginia, Mount Moosilauke is the only other 4,000ft mountain that I’ve hiked since Virginia.

I took my time and got to the top. The summit was absolutely gorgeous. Genie, Splitzy, Birthday, Aqua, and I were all in high spirits. We were taking photos and cracking jokes on the summit.

I was goofing around on the summit, singing Avril Lavigne’s Sk8er Boi, and somehow took a nasty fall. I tried to catch myself as I was falling, but that just made me pick up speed. I fell on my right side. My elbow, knee, and hip took the brunt of the fall. I found out shortly after that my phone screen has a hairline crack. The phone is still fully functional for now, but the broken screen put me in a bad mood.

I hiked down from Moosilauke, which was a beautiful hike and paralleled a waterfall most of the way down. It also happened to be incredibly steep and somewhat of a rock scramble. My knee hurt from my fall, and the descent was more difficult because of it. But, I took it slow and got through.

I hiked the second half of the day alone. I was in a sour mood. I had a lot on my mind, and none of it was healthy or productive. My thoughts were bouncing between my cracked phone screen, the damage to the condo, my failed love life, and my plans for life after I finish the AT. It’s too bad I wasn’t in a better mood for the second half of the day, because the nature here is top notch.
I hiked 16 miles total to Eliza Brook Shelter (Mile 1812). I set up my hammock then ate dinner with Napoleon, Father Time, and Aqua. Napoleon was a very talkative guy, and had a lot of interesting things to say. The conversation distracted me from myself, and I cheered up some with the company.
There are thunderstorms in the forecast for tomorrow afternoon, so I set my alarm for 4:30am so I don’t get caught in the weather at high elevation.
