Day 151, Sunday, 8/14 – I woke up and joined Half Time and Maddy in the kitchen. I got some coffee going while Half Time cooked up breakfast for everybody.

After breakfast, Half Time gave me a hair cut. This was my 3rd hair cut on trail, and they’ve all been by Half Time.

Aqua had a deadline to complete the hike, so she hiked out earlier than the rest of us. Half Time drove Birthday, Genie, Splitzy, and I back to trail at 11:00am.
At the trail head, we all said our goodbyes to Half Time. I’m really glad that I got to see Dogfish and Half Time over the past few days. It’s essentially been a mini reunion. I’m not sure when I’m going to see either of them again.
We hiked the Bigelows today, and they were absolutely beautiful. We had phenomenal 360 degree views from the peaks. We also had our first look at Katahdin. It was a barely visible silhouette way off in the distance. Even still, the end is in sight, and I mean that literally.

We ended the day at Sanford Notch Campsite (Mile 2016). For the first time in a while there wasn’t rain in the forecast, so I set up my hammock without setting up my tarp. We all ate dinner together before heading to bed.
I’m not sure how it happened, but I smashed my knee into a rock during the hike today. I think my foot may have caught on a root which caused me to stumble into the rock. Anyway, I took the bandage off at dinner time, and found a golf ball sized bruise on my knee cap. That wasn’t pleasant.
