Day 2, Friday, 3/18 – I guess I started this morning sometime in the middle of the night. It was starting to get bright in my tent, so I figured it was dawn. I laid in my tent and started to wake up thinking I’d be mobilizing soon. After some time had passed I realized it wasn’t getting any brighter. I opened up my tent and I was staring directly at an almost full moon. I fortunately was able to get back to sleep.
I started my hike off solo today. I wanted to take it slow, and I wanted to go at my own pace. I ended up catching up with Brian, Grizzly, Kyra, Reid, and Julia. at about noon the rain came, which was expected, but I didn’t expect it to be so cold and windy. We hunkered down under a small pavilion for about an hour. I made a liter of lemon ginger tea for the group. It was cold enough for one hiker to wait out the storm in the outhouse. Id rather take my chances outside.. We continued on with the hike in the rain after the brunt of it had passed. Wind was still outrageous, something between 30 & 50 mph we had figured.

Unfortunately my knee started bothering me again towards the end of my hike. It was worse than yesterday. It’s time to take a day off. The folks are going to pick me up from Jarrard gap tomorrow, which is about 2.4 miles from where I’m camping now at Lance Creek. I’ll rest up a bit, resupply, and go from there.
Also, I got a fire going in the rain with the help of Lady May!
