Kevin's AT Thru Hike

Day 12, Monday, 3/28 – I woke up early this morning, before the sunrise. I was motivated to get moving, so I started packing up. Running bear slept in her car, and she brought out donuts and bananas for all of us. I cooked some oats and ate a banana. Bananas are great when you don’t have to carry the peel.

I was the first one out of camp and started hiking alone because I was cold. I also like hiking alone sometimes. There was a nice vista that labeled all of the mountains, which is neat because I could look back at the mountains that I had hiked.

It was honestly a relatively uneventful day, so I’ll give an update on the guy with the spear…

I have to give a bit of background. There’s another hiker that kinda gave me a bad vibe, his name is Paul. I saw Paul throw a rock over an edge a few days ago. There was a trail below and could have hit someone. Anyone who hikes should know to not throw rocks off edges. I thought I was being judgmental, until I heard other hikers get a bad feeling about Paul.

Anyway, I heard from Willow that Paul was at the hostel she was staying at. In the morning Paul didn’t have money to pay for the hostel. Obviously, there was a heated conversation between Zen (hostel owner) and Paul. Apparently, this was the resolution. Zen told Paul that if he is able to get the spear away from Spear Guy, Zen will forgive the hostel stay and also give Paul $150. So right now, in these very woods, Paul is hunting down a guy with a spear so his hostel debt is forgiven and for an additional $150… stay tuned for more

I hiked 10 miles to Cold Springs Shelter which puts me at mile 125. Liz, Genie, Willow, Parkour, and Jetpack are all 2 miles up trail. I waited back because I wanted to catch back up with Sprite. Sprite zeroed at Franklin, so she hiked over 15 miles today to catch up.
