Rice Field Tentsite

Day 55, Tuesday, 5/10 – I woke up early and was the first one in the shower this morning. I finally got my hot shower. I then spent the morning updating the blog and drinking coffee with Lorax, Vinegar, Jetpack, and Parkour.

Jetpack, Parkour, and I ran some errands. We went to the outfitter, grabbed lunch at a chic coffee shop, and did food resupply. Angels Rest had a great vibe, it was difficult to leave.

I had finally packed up and got a shuttle back to the trail. It was just after 1:00pm by the time I was hiking. There was a big climb out of Pearisburg that I wasn’t looking forward to, but it ended up being much more gradual than I thought. It was a great day of hiking.

I packed out a sub sandwich and had a late lunch with Hill Flower, Honey Crow, and Albe. I’ve ran into them a few times, but this was our first longer interaction.

I set up camp at a tent site just past Rice Field Shelter (9 miles total to mile 645). There was daylight left when I stopped hiking, and I still had energy, but this was the last water source for 10 miles. I decided to set up camp so I can hydrate in the morning and fill water bottles. I ate dinner and am camping with Crow, Great Dane, Kodak, and Tight Tights.

  3. Kevin – May the wind remain at your back and may the trial rise to meet you! Wow! Pretty cool stuff! Just wanted to let you know – We hiked the “Manhattan/LongIsland” trail yesterday with Katherine (Uptown K) and James (Beluga Man) and later Claire (Sushi S) – their given trail names – we logged almost 12 miles! Godspeed and pax! John (Pretty Feet)

    1. Wow! Those are some great trail names! That gave me a good laugh. Thanks for the continued support Pretty Feet!
